Great Southern Copper PLC (LSE:GSCU) (GSC) reported high-grade copper, gold and silver assay results from its Victoria prospect at its Especularita copper/silver project in northern Chile.
While the company completes scout drilling programmes at Especularita's Abundante and Teresita, as reported last week, the exploration team is working to enhance the pipeline of drilling prospects at the project, chief executive Sam Garrett explained.
Findings from a mapping and rock chip sampling programme included up to 4.04% copper (Cu), 4.57 grammes of gold (Au) per tonne of earth, and 26.7g/t of silver (Ag).
The company said it had discovered high-grade Cu-Au-Ag mineralisation associated with mesothermal style, intrusive-related quartz-sulphide-carbonate vein breccias mapped over an area of 1km by 0.6km.
"These new rock chip results continue to highlight the significance of the Victoria prospect with consistent high grades of copper and associated gold-silver mapped and sampled in outcrop," said Garrett.
"The mineralisation is similar in style to that currently being drill-tested at our Teresita prospect, although the Victoria mineralisation is typically copper-rich, whereas the Teresita veins tend to be gold-rich. This type of metal zonation across the Especularita project is important to understand and alludes to the large-scale endowment of the project."
He said work continues at Victoria with a view to better understanding the controls on mineralisation and advancing the prospect toward being ready for drill testing.
"These results further emphasise the pipeline of high quality copper-gold drill targets that GSC's team is developing across this significant project."
