Naked Wines PLC (AIM:WINE, OTCQX:NWINF), the online retailer, announced Rodrigo Maza as its new chief executive officer on Monday, representing a key move as part of the group’s wider turnaround plan.
Maza, who took on the role of UK managing director in September 2023, brings experience from the alcohol beverage sector, having launched and scaled several successful online delivery businesses.
For the next couple of months, Maza will work alongside founder and current CEO Rowan Gormley to streamline the transition.
Afterwards, Gormley will move back to his non-executive role as chairman, while Maza becomes the boss permanently.
Rowan Gormley said: "We are delighted to welcome Maza as CEO designate. In his short time with us he has proven his ability to energise his team to get Naked back on the growth path, and his previous experience has a compelling combination of entrepreneurial startups and big company best practice, both of which we are going to need."
Under Maza's leadership, Naked Wines will aim to lift its shares once again, with the company having struggled over the last couple of years to manage the post-pandemic headwinds.
Maza added: “The value that Naked delivers to its customers and winemakers is clear and provides a solid foundation to build on. I look forward to working with the team across Naked and getting this amazing company to achieve its full potential."
Additionally, Emma Kamel, the group’s current chief operating officer, will step into Maza's previous role as general manager of the UK business.
