In a recent interview with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion, Oriole Resources PLC (AIM:ORR) chief executive Tim Livesey shared exciting developments regarding a definitive earn-in agreement for its Mbe gold project in Cameroon, marking the company's second collaboration with BCM International within the same month. This strategic partnership underscores Oriole's commitment to advancing its gold exploration endeavors in the region.
Stephen Gunnion (SG): Tim, Oriole Resources has been in the news with promising updates from Cameroon. Can you elaborate on the latest announcement and its significance for Oriole and its shareholders?
Tim Livesey (TL): Absolutely, Stephen. Our latest announcement highlights the receipt of a significant portion of the signature bonus from BCM International for the Mbe project, totaling $1 million. This follows a similar agreement for the Bibemi project, showcasing our strong partnership with BCM. These funds, distinct from the $4 million allocated for exploration expenditures on each project, reinforce our financial strength and support our continued exploration activities.
It's an exciting time for Oriole, as these agreements not only provide immediate financial benefits but also pave the way for extensive exploration and potential discovery within these promising gold territories in Cameroon.
SG: What are the planned next steps for the Mbe and Bibemi projects under this partnership?
TL: For Mbe, our focus is on deepening our understanding of the gold systems identified through previous surface sampling and artisanal mining activities. We're considering infill soil sampling, detailed mapping, and potentially trenching to unveil the structural intricacies of the gold-bearing zones. These efforts aim to define precise drilling targets, positioning us for more intensive exploration phases.
At Bibemi, we're gearing up for drilling to expand the known resource at Bakassi Zone 1 and to further explore additional prospects within the project area. Our partnership with BCM facilitates a comprehensive exploration strategy, leveraging both direct investment in these projects and our broader portfolio in Cameroon.
SG: Beyond these projects, what does the future hold for Oriole's portfolio in Cameroon?
TL: Our collaboration with BCM on Mbe and Bibemi represents just a fraction of our exploration potential in Cameroon. With nine other licences in the region, the funds from these agreements allow us to advance these additional assets toward similar levels of development. We envision establishing a new gold district in central Cameroon, capitalising on a corridor of gold mineralisation that spans approximately 75 by 15 kilometers. Our strategy involves methodically expanding our exploration footprint, moving from the known prospects at Mbe and Bibemi to untapped areas, thereby unlocking the vast mineral wealth of this region for our shareholders and partners alike.
