Immunic Inc (NASDAQ:IMUX) CEO Dr Daniel Vitt said the company is poised for a pivotal year following its announcement in January of a $240 million financing.
The funding, a testament to investor confidence, primarily supports Immunic's progressive work in multiple sclerosis (MS), particularly its phase two CALLIPER study and two phase three studies, ENSURE1 and ENSURE2. The CALLIPER study, expected to release full data in April 2025, focuses on progressive MS, a field with limited treatment options. Immunic's approach stands out with its drug Vidofludimus Calcium, showing neuroprotective potential, a unique feature in the MS treatment landscape.
Vitt highlighted the dual-action mechanism of Vidofludimus Calcium: as a potent DHODH inhibitor and an activator of Nurr1, a nuclear receptor involved in neuroprotection. This combination addresses the medical need for MS treatments effectively. Additionally, Immunic is advancing in other areas, notably with its innovative molecule IMU-856 targeting gut health, showing promise in celiac disease and other conditions with high unmet medical needs.
With several significant milestones anticipated, including the results of the CALLIPER trial and the future analysis in their phase three RMS program, Immunic stands at the forefront of addressing critical gaps in MS treatment and beyond.
