Galileo Resources unearths exciting new copper targets in Botswana

Galileo Resources PLC (AIM:GLR) has uncovered two new copper targets in its acreage in the southeastern margin of the Kalahari Copper Belt, in Botswana.

The targets, found across licences PL039/2018 and PL040/2018, were identified through a recent Terraleach soil geochemical survey, the company noted, highlighting that previous scout drilling had revealed the prospective lithological sequence typically associated with mineralisation in the region.

They are found in a geological setting referred to as the Galileo Fold, which the company said has similarities with areas drilled by Khoemacau Copper Mining and Arc Minerals.

Such areas have previously seen significant copper intercepts. This, the company said, suggests a high level of prospectivity for the new targets.

“Our new targets are very encouraging particularly when you consider that the copper values in soils on PL39/2018 define an area independently assessed to be directly analogous to the Khoemacau/Arc Mowana Fold prospect,” chief executive Colin Bird said in a statement.

He added: “The scale of our discoveries should also not be overlooked… In the coming months we will undertake further work to pin down drilling targets in this exciting area."
