Diageo, Aviva and Vodafone: What brokers said today

Google parent company Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)'s fourth quarter results may have disappointed investors but analysts at Wedbush remain bullish on the stock, reiterating their ‘Outperform’ rating and $160 price target.

“Alphabet reported health 4Q results with total revenue 1.3% above consensus and operating income (excluding one-time expenses) modestly ahead of expectations,” the analysts wrote in a note to clients.

Aviva has more cash to play with than the market thinks, according to analysts at Jefferies, who have lifted their buyback forecasts to £350m for 2023.

While falling interest rates reduce Aviva's Solvency II ratio, it will likely result in a larger own funds balance (in £m), adds the US bank.

Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:AMD, ETR:AMD) earnings for the fourth quarter of 2023 "just exceeded" expectations but the market's disappointed reaction to guidance for 2024 is "missing the forest the trees", according to analysts at Wedbush.

Revenues for Q4 beat the Wall Street average forecast and earnings per share were in line but guidance for the first quarter of this year was "slightly below" consensus, the analysts said.

NWF Group PLC (AIM:NWF), the food, fuel and feeds distributor, sank close to 6% on Wednesday after its profit and sales dropped and a new site investment dampened forecasts.

Pre-tax profits for the 2024 financial year are expected to see a £1.7 million impact from the group’s investment in its new £8.5 million Lymedale warehouse, which will be used for its food distribution, NWF revealed earlier this month.
