Investment bank Peel Hunt has described as ‘impressive’ the results from Faron Pharmaceutical Limited’s early-stage cancer trial.
Focusing on myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), the study assessed 10 patients who had previously failed standard treatments and revealed a remarkable 100% response rate to a new combination involving Faron’s bexmarilimab and azacitidine, a chemotherapy.
Now in its second phase, the BEXMAB trial is exploring the effectiveness of bexmarilimab, an investigational immunotherapy drug.
This trial is particularly significant as it targets a patient group with MDS, an aggressive form of leukaemia that typically has limited treatment options.
Peel Hunt in a note to clients said: “We agree with the company, these data are really quite impressive, showing how durable the bexmarilimab response might be, even in patients that have exhausted all treatment options.”
The investment bank repeated its ‘buy’ advice and 417p a share price target.
Faron's innovative approach, termed 'CLEVER', aims to reprogramme immune cells to combat cancer more effectively.
