Kootenay Silver CEO Jim McDonald joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce an updated Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) for its La Cigarra Project in Mexico. This update marks a significant development from the previous estimate conducted in 2015. La Cigarra is located within a well-established Mexican mineral district and represents a crucial asset in Kootenay's portfolio of advanced silver exploration projects.
McDonald explained to Proactive that the updated MRE includes Measured resources consisting of 51.57 million ounces of silver, 33.9 thousand ounces of gold, 54.8 million pounds of lead, and 73.5 million pounds of zinc, amounting to 60.56 million ounces of AgEq (silver equivalent). Additionally, the Inferred resources comprise 11.00 million ounces of silver, 6.00 thousand ounces of gold, 14.8 million pounds of lead, and 13.8 million pounds of zinc, totaling 12.85 million ounces of AgEq. Kootenay Silver's updated Mineral Resource Estimate demonstrates a notable increase in silver grade, rising from 86 g/t to 102 g/t silver in the Measured+Indicated category. Furthermore, the Measured+Indicated ounces have seen a slight increase, from 51.47 million to 51.57 million ounces.
This enhancement in silver grade is attributed to the detailed work conducted by the company's team, which has significantly advanced their understanding of the key mineral domains and structural geometry within the deposit. The updated resource estimate underscores the potential of La Cigarra as a valuable silver asset and reaffirms Kootenay Silver's commitment to advancing its exploration projects.
