2024 will be another busy year for the cybersecurity sector as businesses seek to protect their digital assets from hackers, according to the CEO of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered cybersecurity solutions provider Plurilock Security Inc. (TSX-V:PLUR) Ian Paterson.
“We’re seeing a lot of cybersecurity activity and I believe that this tied in a lot of ways to the geopolitical tensions that we’re seeing across the world,” Plurilock told Proactive’s Steve Darling in an exclusive interview.
One sector that is being targeted by hackers is the health sector, with a recent study showing the data of 120 million patients in the United States alone exposed during 2023, spurring demand for cybersecurity solutions.
“This is something that continues to get worse and worse and it’s the reason why we’re seeing purchase behavior from hospitals and healthcare organizations to protect against these threats,” Paterson said.
Plurilock this week announced that it has signed a US$2.5 million, three-year contract to provide enterprise cybersecurity capabilities to a US hospital system.
The US hospital contract was won by Plurilock’s Aurora East team which was acquired as part of its Atrion Communications asset purchase in 2022.
“This is definitely an area that has borne fruit,” Paterson told Proactive. “In fact, in January we also announced a multimillion-dollar deal with a large public library system also from that acquisition.”
He said the company spent most of 2023 realizing the synergies from the three acquisitions it made in 2022.
“Now what you’re going to see is a lot more customer announcements from Plurilock in 2024,” he concluded.
