Ilika PLC (AIM:IKA, OTCQX:ILIKF) chief executive Graeme Purdy joined Proactive's Stephen Gunnion with highlights of the company's first-half performance.
The company's Stereax business converted a memorandum of understanding into a 10-year tech transfer and license agreement with US-based Cirtec, gearing up to manufacture Stereax batteries at Cirtec's facility in Lowell, Massachusetts. This collaboration includes co-marketing efforts, evidenced by their recent joint presence at the North American Neurostimulation Show in California.
Stereax batteries are revolutionizing healthcare with applications in neurostimulation and neuromodulation for conditions like Parkinson's and diabetes, and in smart orthopaedics and orthodontics for post-surgery monitoring and saliva chemical analysis.
On the Goliath side, Ilika reached a pivotal 'D for development' milestone, marking a design freeze for its first prototype, P1, for customer evaluation. This aligns with their strategy to introduce production prototypes.
Purdy also highlighted the Goliath cells' distinct safety advantage in the EV market, reducing the need for extensive pack design engineering. The roadmap for Goliath cells includes a series of prototypes leading to the launch of P2 cells, or A samples, by the end of 2025, integrating into OEMs' development plans.
He noted that Ilika’s active participation in programs like the Faraday Battery Challenge and SiSTEM programmes reflect its commitment to collaboration and innovation. These initiatives enable partnerships with OEMs, tier-one companies, and educational institutions, fostering an ecosystem of support and advancement.
