Murchison Minerals Ltd (TSX-V:MUR, OTCQB:MURMF) has kicked off its latest exploration program at the BMK Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide (VMS) project in Saskatchewan.
The program, covering the 100%-owned project, involves diamond drilling totaling approximately 3,500 meters and is slated for completion by mid-March.
Murchison’s primary aim is to discover the copper-rich stockwork zone associated with the formation of the BMK VMS Deposit, according to a statement.
The deposit, with a 2018 NI 43-101 resource estimate, remains open along strike and at depth.
The 2024 winter drilling program will concentrate on three target areas: CST, BMK North, and BMK South Extensions.
Murchison believes that each area presents high-priority zones for potential discoveries, with a particular focus on the CST target, identified as a large geophysical anomaly.
A fall 2023 ground electro-magnetic survey over the CST target confirmed a strong electromagnetic response, reinforcing it as a high-priority drill target. The CST anomaly is considered significant due to its proximity and similar conductance to the BMK Deposit.
"The 2024 Exploration Program at the BMK Project is the culmination of many months of planning and preparation,” Murchison Minerals' vice-president of Exploration John Shmyr commented.
“The team has spent months updating our geologic interpretation of the BMK Deposit and it has reinforced our views on the high potential of the project.”
Separately, Murchison said that it had ceased trading on the OTCQB market in favour of the OTC's Pink Sheet.
