Blackbird signs US news broadcaster as client

Blackbird PLC (AIM:BIRD, OTCQX:BBRDF), the editing software company, has signed a new client in the US broadcast industry.

CBS19, which provides live news in Charlottesville, Virginia, will use Blackbird’s browser-based video editing platform to produce and publish content for its broadcast and digital workflow.

As part of the deal, Blackbird’s products will allow CBS19 workers to immediately access and edit field footage, wire packages and IP/SDI feeds, seconds behind live, from anywhere.

"Blackbird gives our staff a state-of-the-art tool that is on the forefront of editing technology. It will allow our reporters and producers to create content quickly while seamlessly tying into our existing infrastructure to serve our linear and digital platforms,” CBS19 general manager Mark Kurtz explained.

Through the software, CBS19 will be able to publish content to multiple channels including social media and broadcast.

The London-listed company's boss Ian McDonough said: “Blackbird drives huge efficiencies as a centralising tool in a newsroom environment integrating seamlessly with existing workflows without the need for a large capex investment.

“By enabling instant access to incoming content from multiple sources with lightning-fast turnaround, Blackbird is emerging as a linchpin tool in a fast-paced newsroom.”

Blackbird shares lifted almost 3% at 6.95p on Monday.
