Volta Metals Ltd (CSE:VLTA) has returned encouraging results from its summer exploration program at its flagship Falcon West lithium project in northwestern Ontario.
All 11 drill holes in the program intersected near-surface spodumene mineralization, with one drill hole intersecting an 11.7-meter-wide mineralized pegmatite that remains open in all directions.
CEO Kerem Usenmez joined Proactive’s Steve Darling to discuss the results.
Proactive: You’ve released the final hole of your drill program which was 11 holes total. What were you focusing on with this particular drill program?
Usenmez: Since we started our field exploration in late summer this year, we’ve uncovered five outcrops of lithium-bearing rocks. We wanted to drill and test them at depth to see how they’re continuing.
We just completed that this past weekend and hit all of these extensions of those underground with every porthole, which is encouraging. But, not only that, we hit multiple other ones as well. So that’s a discovery that didn’t correlate to the surface with what we discovered underground.
This is encouraging because it’s not only continuing in depth but also indicating more mineralized zones that we need to go after.
We’re just talking about a small portion of the property here, 300 meters by 500 meters, right?
That is correct – it’s about 13 square kilometres. Because we started late in summer, we are only really just scratching the surface in this small area. These encouraging results indicate a swarm of lithium pegmatites in the area.
Our neighbors on either side also have lithium showing, so we’re very encouraged.
Let’s talk about 2024. Do you plan to put together new modelling and get to more drilling?
Right now, we only have visuals but they’re very encouraging. With hardrock lithium, you know if you have the mineralization or not as opposed to base metals.
Once we have the lab results, we’re going to put those together to come up with a bigger program. Not only step-outs on either side of this drilling program but also additional targets that are generated to expand the zones.
