Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN, ETR:AMZ) has introduced a new artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot designed to answer consumers’ product questions, a spokesperson for the company said.
Within the Amazon mobile app, users are given a prompt to ask questions about a given item, and the AI generates a response built from the product listing and reviews.
The chatbot can even respond to creative prompts, according to reports. For example, you could ask it to describe the item in the voice of a famous character or as a haiku.
It will not, however, answer questions unrelated to the products in question.
The feature was first reported by e-commerce research firm Marketplace Pulse.
The new tool comes after the company launched Amazon Q, an AI chatbot designed for businesses, in late November.
Shares of Amazon fell 0.9% Tuesday to $153.16.
