Willow Biosciences Inc (TSX:WLLW, OTCQB:CANSF) told investors it has been selected by clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company Enterin Inc to collaborate on the development of new sustainable manufacturing routes to their key intermediates and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
The company said Enterin sought its expertise in developing and scaling biobased processes using its BioOxiTM selective hydroxylation platform so it can use more sustainable methods to manufacture its key development targets at reduced cost and with less waste.
The initial program will focus on the feasibility of developing a biobased pathway. If successful, the companies will advance development toward implementation at a commercial scale.
The development phase of the funded collaboration is expected to last approximately three months, Willow added.
"We are delighted to have been selected by a forward-thinking pharmaceutical company like Enterin to apply our AI-enabled technology platform to the development of sustainably sourced intermediates and APIs," Willow president and CEO Dr Chris Savile commented in a statement.
"If successful, we believe the developed biobased route will be more sustainable, cost-effective and ensure access to these potentially life-changing medicines in Enterin's development pipeline."
Willow noted that the agreement with Enterin is its third development agreement with innovator/discovery food or pharma companies seeking access to its transformative BioOxiTM selective hydroxylation platform.
