Great Boulder Resources Ltd (ASX:GBR) has identified several zinc-lead anomalies in a first-pass soil sampling program at the Wellington Project in the Earaheedy Basin of Western Australia, confirming the company’s target model of project geology.
GBR collected 700 samples on a 1-kilometre by 1-kilometre grid during this program, covering about 63% of the project tenure and revealing three areas of anomalous zinc-lead mineralisation in the northwestern and eastern regions of the project.
The anomalies are up to 8 kilometres in width, corresponding with pathfinder elements in areas already identified to be prospective by the Geological Survey of Western Australia’s sample data.
Infill sampling to define targets
“Our first field program at Wellington has confirmed our target model, as the first-pass soil sample data has identified large, coincident zinc-lead anomalies in three areas,” Great Boulder Resources managing director Andrew Paterson said.
“The next step will be infill sampling within the anomalous areas to improve their definition prior to commencing gravity surveys, after which we hope to have enough detailed information to start planning the first drill program.
“This is an excellent start for the Wellington Project, however, our short and medium-term focus remains firmly set on resource growth and new discoveries at the Side Well Project at Meekatharra.”
GBR intends to conduct airborne gravity surveys over Wellington in the second half of 2024, with any resulting targets to be drill-tested once practical.
