Lucid Group recalls sedans over faulty heating units

Lucid Group Inc (NASDAQ:LCID) announced a recall of more than 2,000 of its Lucid Air electric sedans due to concerns over a faulty part in the cars’ heating units.

Lucid Air vehicles from the 2022 and 2023 model years may have an issue with their high-voltage coolant heaters (HVCH), which supply warm air to heat the interior of the car and defrost the windshield.

"Lack of defrost capability poses a safety risk due to a possibility of obstructed driver vision," Lucid said in a recall report on Friday.

The company said that a software update this month will inform drivers if their vehicle’s component has failed. Faulty parts will be replaced at Lucid service centers.

Lucid noted that its HVCH parts were supplied by the German company Webasto AG.

Shares of Lucid were down more than 7% midday Friday after already dropping Thursday on disappointing fourth-quarter deliveries.
