Apple boss Tim Cook takes a $36m pay cut and still walks away with $63m

Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL, ETR:APC)'s chief executive officer Tim Cook took a $36 million pay cut - and still received $63.2 million in compensation in the last financial year.

Cook backed a shareholder call for the reduction, meaning the iPhone maker's CEO makes 75% of remuneration in stock awards.

So, how does this not-insubstantial sum for the year to September 30 tot up?

Well, Cook received a comparatively modest $3 million in salary followed by $47 million in stock awards, $10.7 million in what was described as non-equity compensation, and $2.5 million in additional compensation, primarily for security.
