Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN, ETR:AMZ) is continuing with layoffs this week, this time in its Audible division.
Audible CEO Bob Carrigan sent an internal memo to employees announcing that 5% of the division would be laid off, according to a report from Business Insider on Thursday.
"To position us for continued success in the coming year and into the future, given the increasingly challenging landscape we face, we have to take this difficult decision now," Carrigan wrote.
The cuts come a day after reports surfaced that Amazon planned to lay off hundreds of workers from its Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios divisions, according to a different internal memo.
Meanwhile, Amazon’s streaming subsidiary Twitch is poised to lay 500 employees after the business has failed to turn a profit since being taken over, reports say.
Job cuts have been a running theme for Amazon over the past two years. In 2023, the ecommerce titan slashed 27,000 jobs in the US following a wave of hiring during the pandemic.
