Viagogo ads misled consumers over Taylor Swift resale tickets, ASA rules

The UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has ticked off ticket reseller Viagogo for misleading marketing on the NME website about ticket resale policies.

Two advertorials featured on NME.com promoted summer gigs at Hyde Park and a guide to buying Taylor Swift Era’s tour tickets, with both paid-for ad features implying that Viagogo was a safe platform for ticket resale.

However, the ASA said in a ruling today that these ads omitted crucial information that certain event venues, including those advertised, do not accept resale tickets, which would potentially lead to buyers using Viagogo being refused entry.

Even though Viagogo insisted that most customers had not been refused entry, the ASA told the company to ensure future ads do not omit such material information about entry restrictions.
