GSK PLC (LSE:GSK, NYSE:GSK) has moved to bolster its respiratory pipeline with the acquisition of Aiolos Bio for up to US$1.4 billion.
It is paying an upfront US$1 billion and US$400 million based on certain regulator milestones.
Adding Aiolos' AIO-001 to its pipeline offers a next-generation product for its US$8 billion a year inhalers business led by top sellers Trelegy and Advair.
That said, the asset it still several years away from joining the GSK product portfolio as it's only just undergoing phase II clinical trials.
