Digitalbox PLC (AIM:DBOX), the owner of prominent digital media brands Entertainment Daily, The Daily Mash, The Tab, The Poke and TVGuide.co.uk, has navigated a challenging year marked by a difficult UK advertising market and major platform restrictions.
Despite these obstacles, Digitalbox is poised to deliver year-end results that align with full-year market expectations following the resolution of Google-sourced traffic restrictions for Entertainment Daily in November 2023.
This positive development, coupled with the successful integration of TVGuide.co.uk and the performance of the Social Chain pages, signals a robust rebound for the company.
Chief executive James Carter, CEO of Digitalbox, reflected on the year's challenges in a Tuesday press release, including the depressed advertising market and algorithmic issues on platforms that impacted audience levels.
However, he highlighted the company's resilience and strategic acquisitions, such as TVGuide.co.uk, which have started to show encouraging results.
"Looking ahead, TVGuide.co.uk provides a major expansion opportunity in future years,” he commented. “After an extensive re-engineering process to bring the brand onto our Graphene platform, we are seeing encouraging traffic and revenue performance coming through.”
Carter continued: “We are mindful of the continuing difficult economic conditions but we have confidence from the regaining of Entertainment Daily's Google audience and a steady return in the ad market as we move through 2024.
“From an audience perspective, the business has diversified its traffic sourcing to a point where it is now fundamentally more evenly balanced than at any point in the company's history. "
EBITDA for the year ended 31 December 2023 is expected to hit market expectations,
Digitalbox had more than £1.9 million in gross cash at the end of the period.
