Nvidia Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) shares closed at a record level on Monday after the company introduced a new line of graphics processors and software designed to run generative artificial intelligence (AI) applications on personal computers.
The semiconductor giant’s latest offerings include three models of its GeForce RTX 40 Super Series desktop graphics processing units. The top-of-the-line GeForce RTX 4080 Super is capable of generating AI images 1.7 times faster and video 1.5 times faster than the equivalent model from the previous generation of Nvidia technology.
Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE) has ended its partnership with Tiger Woods after 27 years, the golfer announced on Monday.
Woods released a statement on social media along with a photo of him and his mother with Nike founder Phil Knight.
“Over 27 years ago, I was fortunate to start a partnership with one of the most iconic brands in the world,” Woods said. “The days since have been filled with so many amazing moments and memories, if I started naming them, I could go on forever."
Meanwhile, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) kicks off Monday night in Las Vegas when some 130,000 attendees will gather for a glimpse at the future of AI and other technologies.
Siemens CEO Roland Busch will kick things off at 6:30 pm MT Monday with a keynote address, with addresses later in the week from L’Oréal CEO Nicolas Hieronimus, Snap Inc (NYSE:SNAP) CEO Evan Spiegel, Walmart Inc (NYSE:WMT) CEO Doug McMillon, Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) CEO Patrick Gelsinger and more.
Elsewhere, Unity Software Inc (NYSE:U) is slashing a quarter of its workforce — some 1,800 employees — according to an internal company memo and regulatory filing Monday.
The video game software developer plans to complete the layoffs by the end of March, the company said. The cuts come after interim CEO Jim Whitehurst announced a “company reset” in November.
