Tiger Woods and Nike part ways after 27 years

Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE) has ended its partnership with Tiger Woods after 27 years, the golfer announced on Monday.

Woods released a statement on social media along with a photo of him and his mother with Nike founder Phil Knight.

“Over 27 years ago, I was fortunate to start a partnership with one of the most iconic brands in the world,” Woods said. “The days since have been filled with so many amazing moments and memories, if I started naming them, I could go on forever.

“People will ask if there is another chapter. Yes, there will certainly be another chapter. See you in LA,” Woods added.

Nike also put out a statement.

"Tiger, you challenged your competition, stereotypes, conventions, the old school way of thinking. You challenged the entire institution of golf. You challenged us. And most of all, yourself. And for that challenge we're grateful."

In 2013, Woods signed his most recent contract with Nike, which paid him $200 million over a decade. His last appearance in Nike apparel was at the PNC Championship in December, according to reports.
