Dr Norman Poh, Chief Science Officer at Trust Stamp joined Proactive's Stephen Gunnion with details of a provisional patent application with the US Patent and Trademark Office for its new Stable IT2 facial recognition technology.
The patent covers a novel biometric cryptosystem designed to work seamlessly with classical cryptographic algorithms. Unlike conventional systems using fixed passwords, Trust Stamp's approach stabilizes facial biometric data, creating a secure and reproducible key for cryptographic systems. This algorithm extracts high entropy from face images by utilizing floating-point numbers before binary conversion, preserving more information than traditional methods.
Dr Poh emphasized the privacy aspect of Trust Stamp's innovation, as the algorithm resides on the user's device, generating a secure sketch and health data during registration. These processed data pieces, even when combined, do not contain sufficient information for biometric reconstruction, ensuring user privacy. In contrast to passkey solutions, Trust Stamp's stable key is ephemeral, only existing in memory and reconstructed from facial biometrics, offering enhanced security and differentiation.
