Bet365 boss and Britain’s richest woman Denise Coates earned nearly £300 million last year in pay and dividends from the UK-based, privately-owned gambling group.
Coates received a salary of approximately £221 million in the year ending March 2023, up from £213 million the previous year.
Additionally, the betting chief would have claimed at least half of the £100 million in dividends paid out by the company due to her stake as the Bet365 founder.
This payout comes despite the group reporting a pre-tax loss of £72.6 million this year, compared to a profit of nearly £50 million in 2022.
Bet365 attributed the fall to its expansion in countries like the US, where it has set up sportsbooks in states such as New Jersey and Colorado.
The group also owns the majority of Stoke City Football Club, which experienced an annual loss of £12.4 million.
However, this was a marked improvement from the £26.3 million loss the previous year.
Coates has earned over £1 billion in pay and dividends in recent years.
Her remuneration, which peaked at £421 million in 2020, easily surpasses the levels offered by the top-paying FTSE 100 groups like AstraZeneca and BAE Systems.
The group reported revenues of £3.4 billion in the year to March 2023, up from £2.9 billion the previous year, largely driven by sports betting.
