Adriatic Metals appoints chief sustainability officer

Adriatic Metals PLC (LSE:ADT1, ASX:ADT, OTCQX:ADMLF) has announced the appointment of ex-UK foreign office diplomat Alex Budden to its newly-created role of chief sustainability officer.

Reporting directly to chief executive Paul Cronin, Budden’s role will cover environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues and government relations, the exploration firm said on Monday.

Budden has previously worked in senior corporate affairs and sustainability positions at Harbour Energy and Lundin Energy.

These followed his 20-year career as a diplomat in the UK’s foreign office, which saw him based in various locations.

"As Adriatic evolves to become a European focused mid-tier operator, our sustainability strategy, policies and activities will also need to strengthen and develop to ensure we enhance our social licence to operate, protect the natural environment, and continue to lower our cost of capital,” Cronin commented.

“With the inclusion of Alex into our senior management team we will increase the importance of sustainability in our organisation, continue to operate with industry best practices, and build on our relationships with all our stakeholders.”
