Norsk Titanium ramps up rapid part development capabilities

Norsk Titanium (OTCQX:NORSF) said it is expanding its rapid part development and qualification capabilities to shorten the lead time and meet customer part verification needs for aerospace-grade structural titanium components manufactured using its patented Rapid Plasma Deposition (RPD) technology.

The company said its new capabilities include heat treatment, ultrasonic non-destructive testing, finish machining operations, and coordinate measuring which will allow it to perform all tasks needed to design, develop, and qualify parts without adding any lead time required by the supply chain.

It will allow the company to deliver limited production rapid prototypes to customers who have urgent needs it added, a critical capability for the company to meet its objective of developing a "part-in-a-day" operation.

“With our RPD Builder rapid part design tool and these new capabilities, we can now take a customer’s final part geometry, design the RPD preform, and validate the design all at our Plattsburgh New York facility,” Norsk vice president of operations Steve Eaton said in a statement.

“We will be able to verify parts in accordance our customers’ aerospace material specifications in as little as six weeks.”

Norsk Titanium (OTCQX:NORSF) is a global leader in metal 3D printing, innovating the future of metal manufacturing by enabling a paradigm shift to a clean and sustainable manufacturing process.
