General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) reported on Wednesday that its US vehicle sales rose 14.1% last year, marking the automaker’s best annual performance since 2019.
GM revealed it sold roughly 2.6 million vehicles in 2023, including 625,176 cars and trucks in the fourth quarter.
The Detroit automaker’s US sales growth last year was in line with industrywide estimates, according to Edmunds.
US sales at GM were led by a 61% increase in its Buick brand, followed by a 13.1% improvement for its mainstream Chevrolet unit.
“We grew our market share in 2023, maintaining strong pricing and low incentives,” GM’s senior vice president and president of North America Marissa West said in a statement.
Sales of the company’s all-electric vehicles last year, though, totaled just 75,883 units, or 2.9% of GM’s overall sales, with the vast majority consisting of its now discontinued Chevrolet Bolt models.
GM sold about 2.3 million vehicles in 2022 and 2.9 million in 2019.
Shares of General Motors slipped 2% to $35.28 in late-afternoon trading on Wednesday.
