Ancestry CEO Deborah Liu has not ruled out the genealogy company going public in an interview with Bloomberg.
The company is privately owned by investment firm Blackstone Inc (NYSE:BX) after being acquired for about $5 billion in 2020.
When asked if an initial public offering (IPO) was forthcoming, Liu commented that Ancestry’s partnership with owner Blackstone was “very, very close” but did not rule out an IPO.
After being taken private in 2012 after a 2009 Nasdaq float, Ancestry in June 2017 announced it has confidentially filed for an IPO.
The offering, however, was delayed in September 2017 after its long-time CEO Tim Sullivan stepped down after 12 years at the helm.
