Hercules Site Services wins more big water sector contracts

Hercules Site Services PLC (AIM:HERC) said its Civils Projects division has been awarded further contracts from the water sector with a combined value of £5.75 million during the past quarter.

The final quarter of the calendar year, also the first of the company's new financial year, saw it win contracts from two existing clients, Thames Water and Anglian Water, relating to eight wastewater treatment and water management projects, it said.

This adds to other wins in the sector last year, including £3.1 million of contracts announced in September from Thames and Anglian as the water industry battles with criticism about issues including sewage releases into waterways, with pledges to invest over £12 billion to improve the water network.

Thames Water has now appointed Hercules Civils to carry out £3.78 million of work across six sites, the largest of which is a £2.2 million sewage treatment works in Crawley, West Sussex.

Anglian’s £1.97 million of work includes a £1.29 million contract to improve the water pumping station in Etton, near Peterborough.

Paul Field, construction director at Hercules, said these further contract wins “are testament to our strong position as a trusted supplier to the UK water industry”.
