Shares in LungLife AI Inc (AIM:LLAI), a developer of diagnostic solutions for early lung cancer detection, jumped 43% following the successful validation of its LungLB test.
This diagnostic, crucial in identifying cancerous lung nodules, especially in smaller nodules (smaller than 15 mm), demonstrated an 81% positive predictive value (PPV), significantly outperforming the current standard of around 60% PPV.
This advancement is pivotal in early cancer detection, addressing the challenge of diagnosing "intermediate" risk nodules which constitute about 87% of small nodules.
LungLB also surpassed the Mayo Risk Model and PET scans in effectiveness, with a 72% area under the curve (AUC) compared to Mayo's 62% and a 21% higher PPV than PET in small nodules, offering a more robust diagnostic tool for physicians.
