Technology Minerals PLC (LSE:TM1) has hailed portfolio company Recyclus’s appointment of chemical engineer Anwar Sattar as its scientific director.
Sattar brings over a decade of experience to the battery recycling firm, Technology Minerals said in a statement, including time leading battery recycling development work at the University of Warwick.
Sattar also holds a chemical engineering PhD in hydrogen and fuel cells from the University of Birmingham and has worked for companies European Metals Recycling and Axion Recycling.
Technology Minerals chairman Robin Brundle commented: “I look forward to seeing the opportunities and contributions he will provide to the development team.
“Anwar will be supporting our accelerated roll-out of additional recycling plants across the UK [and] leading our programme for inhouse separation of the black mass from our recycling plants."
Recyclus, of which Technology Minerals owns 48.35%, operates the UK’s first industrial-scale lithium-ion battery recycling plant.
Based in Wolverhampton, the plant has already achieved black mass yields of up to 45%, allowing lithium, manganese, nickel and cobalt to be recovered from discarded batteries.
