Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) is celebrating for the 47th year in a row as its F-Series took the top spot among US truck sales. The F-Series is also the top-selling overall vehicle for the 42nd consecutive year, and the F-150 Lightning is the top electric truck.
Mike Levine, director of Ford North America product communication, took a victory lap in an interview with the Detroit Free Press.
"From the Bee Gees to Taylor Swift and the Apple II to Apple iPhone, If change is the only constant in life then there’s something reassuring that more than half of Americans have grown up only knowing that Ford F-Series is America’s best-selling vehicle," Levine said.
By the numbers, Ford has sold more than 700,000 F-Series pickup trucks this year, which is over 200,000 more units than the Chevy Silverado has sold, according to a spokesperson.
However, it’s worth noting that General Motors Company (NYSE:GM), which makes the Silverado, also sells the GMC Sierra. Combined, GM’s full-size trucks beat out the F-Series.
