Sigma Lithium Corp (TSX-V:SGML, NASDAQ:SGML) said it had shipped 22,000 tonnes of its Quintuple Zero Green Lithium concentrate to Glencore at the Port of Vitoria in Brazil.
The lithium company's fifth shipment helps to position it as a key player in sustainable lithium production.
Sigma said its Greentech plant sustained production at the design capacity of 270,000 tonnes per year throughout December.
The company has started loading its latest 22,000-tonne shipment to Glencore, with a provisional premium price. Glencore will prepay 50% of the shipment's value, reflecting the unique value of Sigma Lithium's Quintuple Zero Green Lithium concentrate.
This year, Sigma was recognized at COP28 for its Quintuple Zero Lithium as the most sustainable lithium globally. The company is the first in the industry to achieve carbon neutrality, utilizing 100% renewable power and dry-stacked tailings with zero net carbon emissions.
Sigma told investors that it anticipates expanding its mineral resource on the Grota do Cirilo property, with Phase 4 increasing the total to 110 million tonnes and Phase 5 adding an extra 20 million tonnes.
Sigma is also planning earthworks for the expansion of the Greentech Plant, it added.

Meanwhile, over 13,000 people in communities near Sigma’s operations are benefiting from the company’s investments, according to Ligia Seca, director of institutional relations at Sigma. “We are opening new opportunities for Brazil to participate in global sustainable supply chains for battery materials."
Looking ahead, Matthew DeYoe, executive vice president of corporate affairs and strategic development, expressed confidence in sustaining momentum into 2024. "Our team has overcome incredible challenges to achieve dry-stack tailings with zero net carbon and 100% water reuse. I look forward to continuing this momentum into the next year," he said.
