Post-Christmas week will come and go without any major earnings reports but investors hungry for economic data will have a few reports to nibble on.
Monday, December 25
Market closed for Christmas.
Tuesday, December 26
The shortened trading week will kick off with the latest consumer confidence report and the S&P Case-Shiller home price index. No earnings are expected.
Wednesday, December 27
Again, no earnings, but MBA mortgage applications data is due out. Last week, mortgage activity decreased after six consecutive weeks of growth.
Thursday, December 28
Initial jobless claims are in the spotlight, with analysts at Trading Economics expect 207,000 additions for the weke of December 23. A week prior, jobless claims were rose by 2,000 to 205,000.

Friday, December 29
The Chicago Business Barometer report is due out, and the bond market will close early ahead of the New Year's Day market holiday on Monday.
