Rocket Lab USA Inc (NASDAQ:RKLB) shares added almost 28% after the aerospace company revealed it has secured a US government contract valued at up to $515 million.
In a regulatory filing, the company said through its wholly-owned subsidiary Rocket Lab National Security it would design, manufacture, deliver and operate 18 space vehicles for the customer.
It said work would begin immediately with customer delivery expected in 2027.
The $515 million contract includes a base amount of $489 million and incentives and options totalling $26 million.
Rocket Lab shares gained 27.9% at US$5.66 late morning on Friday.
