Elon Musk's X hit by global outage

Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, on Thursday faced the largest outage since the Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) owner bought the site formerly known as Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) for billions.

Over 90,000 users reported issues with the site in the morning, according to tracking website Downdetector.

This stretched to the likes of the UK, US and India, where people were unable to access feeds and were instead shown messages reading “welcome to X” and “waiting for posts”.

Though the issue has since been fixed, it marks the largest and most wide-ranging outage faced by X since Musk’s US$44 billion takeover late last year.

Musk has implemented sweeping changes during his time in charge, including the addition of paid features and new feeds designed to suggest posts to users from unfollowed accounts.

The causes of the outage remain unknown, with the fault marking the latest in a string of large-scale temporary issues for the site, including in March, July and October.
