Tesla faces potential recall in Norway over suspension failures: report

Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) is potentially facing another recall of its electric vehicles (EVs) as Norway’s traffic safety regulator, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA), has launched an investigation into its suspension failures, according to a Reuters report.

This comes after earlier this month Tesla recalled 2 million vehicles due to issues with its driver-assistance system.

NPRA senior engineer Tor-Ove Satren told the publication that the agency began probing Tesla in September of last year following consumer complaints about the lower rear end control arms breaking on its Model S and X EVs.

Should it determine that the matter poses a “serious risk,” the agency could recommend that Tesla recall all model years of the S and X vehicles to replace the rear lower control arms, Satren said.

The agency has the authority to order Tesla to recall the vehicles should it refuse to do so voluntarily.

Alternatively, NPRA could decide there is no action required and close its investigation or choose to extend its review.

A decision is expected by Christmas, Reuters reported.

Tesla did not respond to the publication’s request for comment.

Its shares traded up 1.5% at US$250.89 before Thursday’s opening bell in New York.
