A company which supported the European Super League has introduced a fresh plan for both men's and women's European competitions, aimed at being played when the Champions League is usually on.
The proposal by A22 outlines a league structure featuring 64 men's clubs across three leagues, with no permanent members.
In the women's competition, 32 clubs would be distributed across two leagues.
It comes just hours after European courts said UEFA and FIFA were unlawful in banning clubs from joining the European Super League and that they are “abusing a dominant position”.
The court decision, stemming from a case brought by the ESL and its supporters against the footballing bodies, alleged that they violated competition law by threatening sanctions for participation in the breakaway league.
While the court ruled against the governing bodies, it emphasised that this did not automatically approve a breakaway league.
The A22 proposal, currently lacking club details and prize money, advocates for an annual promotion and relegation system.
In the men's competition, the Star League and Gold League would each comprise 16 teams, while the Blue League, the bottom tier, would include 32 clubs.
Additionally, the proposal promises fans free access to live matches through a new digital streaming platform.
