BAE, JD Sports and Lloyds most searched for FTSE 100 stocks

BAE Systems PLC (LSE:BA.) was the most searched-for constituent of the FTSE 100 index in 2023, according to research.

JD Sports Fashion PLC (LSE:JD.) came in a modest second, with the pair being the only companies within the index to average over half a million monthly searches over the year.

Defence firm BAE has recorded share price gains of over 25% so far this year, with a strong order book having been built following the outbreak of war in Ukraine in early 2022.

Retailer JD is up even further at 34% over the year-to-date, with gains having been driven by the firm reporting a 26% uptick in interim profit in late September.

Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LSE:LLOY), SSE PLC (LSE:SSE) and BP PLC (LSE:BP.) then made up the remnants of the top five, as per Google data compiled by comparison site Investing reviews.

Top ten FTSE 100 stocks by average monthly searches:

“It is always useful to know which stocks are generating interest,” Investing Reviews chief executive Simon Jones commented.

“It may provide insight into which stocks may experience higher trading volumes and price swings.”
