Redx Pharma CEO discusses milestones and Clinical development plans - ICYMI

In an interview with Proactive's Thomas Warner, Lisa Anson, CEO of Redx Pharma PLC (AIM:REDX), discusses the company's impressive progress and strategic plans following the release of their final results for 2023.

Redx Pharma, a clinical-stage biotechnology company, has made notable strides in the development of innovative treatments for challenging medical conditions.

The interview focuses on the company's achievements over the past year, particularly in advancing its lead asset Zelasudil.

Anson also sheds light on the financial accomplishments of Redx Pharma amidst a challenging economic climate and outlines the company's ambitious goals for 2024.

These goals include significant clinical trial developments and potential partnerships, especially in the fields of kidney fibrosis and oncology. The conversation offers a comprehensive overview of Redx Pharma's current position and prospects in the pharmaceutical industry.

TW: Lisa, congratulations on your recent annual results. Could you share with us the key highlights and achievements of Redx Pharma in 2023?

LA: Thank you, Thomas. 2023 was a year of significant progress for us. We focused on our differentiated ROCK portfolio, with key milestones achieved across our clinical and preclinical assets. Notably, we launched a Phase 2 program for Zelasudil in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a challenging lung condition. We're also excited about a second asset targeting the same mechanism, which, after extensive preclinical work, is poised for clinical trials next year. Additionally, we made substantial progress in our oncology program and are now seeking partnership opportunities for its development.

TW: With 2023 being a challenging year financially, how did Redx Pharma navigate this, and what are the implications for the company's future?

LA: Indeed, 2023 posed financial challenges for the biotech sector. We successfully raised £14.1 million, which was crucial for maintaining our momentum. This funding ensures our operations through September 2024, allowing us to reach important milestones. These milestones, we believe, will be pivotal catalysts for our growth, securing our position and enabling us to focus on delivering our clinical programs.

TW: Looking ahead to 2024, what are the key milestones Redx Pharma aims to achieve?

LA: The coming year, 2024, is set to be substantial for Redx. We're eagerly anticipating the release of Phase 2 data in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and resolving FDA regulatory issues in the first half of the year. A major milestone will be initiating a Phase 1 study for our RXC008 (ROCK) asset. This will mark the sixth instance of Redx Pharma bringing a drug into clinical trials. We're also advancing our kidney fibrosis and oncology programs, targeting clinical stages by 2026. There's a lot on our cards for 2024, and we're fully geared up for these challenges.

TW: You mentioned the potential for new partnerships in 2024. What makes Redx Pharma an attractive partner in the industry?

LA: Our business model and track record make us an appealing partner. We aim to progress our programs to clinical proof of concept, which is a significant value inflexion point. While we can't do this with all our programs, partnering some of them has been successful, providing us with milestones and funding. We've previously partnered effectively with companies like AstraZeneca and Jazz Pharmaceuticals. In 2024, we'll be focusing on finding the right partners, especially for our GI cancer oncology program, where our strategy and results will guide us in selecting the best collaborative paths.
