Volkswagen Group (XETRA:VOW), the automotive giant behind brands such as Audi, Porsche and Scout Motors, has reportedly announced plans to align with Tesla's electric vehicle (EV) charging standard.
News overnight suggests VW is considering adapter solutions to enable its existing EV models to use Tesla's Supercharger network, aiming for a rollout by 2025.
New VW electric vehicles, starting in 2025, will be equipped with Tesla's charging ports, providing customers access to over 15,000 Supercharger stations in North America.
This move comes after other major automakers, including Ford and GM, have adopted Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS), previously exclusive to Tesla vehicles.
The integration of Tesla's extensive charging technology, known for its reliability, follows the trend set by other automakers such as BMW.
