AMT Futures Managing Director James Proudlock visited the Proactive London studio to speak with Thomas Warner about the state and direction of the global economy, and shares his thoughts on where options trading can fit into the picture.
Along the way he reveals what he believes is "probably the biggest mistake that a retail investor can make" in the current market.
He also goes on to suggest that the fall in the average person's disposable income appears to actually be supporting demand for options trading services, given that options can be used to boost returns on smaller investments. "If I can invest £10,000 and make a 10% return I get £1,000 - that's quite good. But if I only have £1,000 to invest and I get a 10% return I've got £100 - it doesn't really make a material impact. So I might actually be prepared to take more leverage on, [since] I don't really mind if I lose £100... but I might turn that into £400-500 within a matter of days or weeks."
