Porter Airlines has announced a new partnership deal with Alaska Airlines that will combine its strong presence across Eastern Canada with Alaska’s US West Coast links to give passengers more coast-to-coast flight options.
The carrier said the new interline agreement will allow passengers to buy combined Porter-Alaska itineraries directly from its website or via third-party agencies. Members on Alaska’s Mileage Plan can start earning points on Porter flights booked via Alaska Airlines from January, while loyalty program members of both airlines will earn miles regardless of where they book their flights later in 2024, Porter Airlines said in a statement.
“This partnership with Alaska Airlines is a significant win for passengers looking for more choice and better service when flying within Canada and the United States,” commented Porter Airlines executive vice president and chief commercial officer Kevin Jackson.
From January, Porter said passengers will be able to fly into major Alaska Airlines hubs in Los Angeles and San Francisco and can initially access 18 western US markets including Portland, San Diego, Seattle, and Phoenix, all available via an Alaska Airlines connection. Connections via shared Canadian airports are expected to come online in early 2024, it added.
“Porter Airlines opens new opportunities for our guests to travel to Canada in style,” Alaska Airlines vice president of loyalty, alliances and sales Brett Catlin added.
