Netflix Inc (NASDAQ:NFLX) has published its first biannual streaming data report, giving a glimpse into the nearly 100 billion hours of content viewed between January and June.
The report, titled 'What We Watched: A Netflix Engagement Report', offers a glimpse into how Netflix originals compare to licensed content.
The title of most-watched show goes to “The Night Agent,” a thriller series that garnered 812 million hours of views since it debuted in March. Interestingly, “Wednesday,” Netflix’s most-watched show of all time came fourth in this report, due to its November 2022 release date predating the report’s window.
The report will also add color to the unexpected resurgence of the USA legal drama “Suits,” according to Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos. The show went off the air in 2019 but spent 15 weeks atop Netflix’s weekly top 10 lists after it came to the platform in June.
“What’s interesting is a show like ‘Suits,’ which has been played on USA for a long time, has been available on Peacock and has been available on Amazon for a couple of years before it hit Netflix, and yet we were able to unlock this enormous global audience for it,” Sarandos said in a call with reporters.
“And that’s the combination of our large subscriber base and our recommendation system that knew to put ‘Suits’ in front of people who were going to love it the most.”
The June-December report is expected to be released in 2024, the company said.
