Sidus Space announces expanded contract with Bechtel for NASA's Artemis missions

Sidus Space Inc (NASDAQ:SIDU) shares moved higher before Tuesday’s opening bell after the Space-as-a-Service company announced it has been selected by Bechtel to manufacture additional cables in support of the NASA Mobile Launcher 2 contract for the Artemis missions.

The company highlighted that this follows an earlier contract with Bechtel to manufacture custom cables and populate unique electronics cabinets supporting the launch control subsystem and ground special power subsystems.

Mobile Launcher 2 is a ground platform structure which will launch Space Launch System rockets Block 1B and Block 2 configurations to the moon, allowing NASA to send astronauts and cargo to the moon’s surface, Sidus said.

It noted that the mobile launcher is the primary interface between the ground control system, the Space Launch System rocket, and Orion spaceflight flight hardware.

"We are honored to extend our collaboration with Bechtel on NASA’s Mobile Launcher 2 project for the Artemis missions," Sidus Space chief production officer Rich Kube said.

“This additional cable assembly contract reinforces Sidus Space's steadfast dedication to excellence in aerospace technology. Our ongoing contribution of critical components to the launch of the SLS rockets Block 1B and Block 2 configurations reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting NASA's Artemis mission in its goal to explore and establish a presence on the lunar surface."

Shares of Sidus Space added 4.3% at US$0.06 in premarket trade on Tuesday.

Sidus Space is a Space and Data-as-a-Service satellite company focused on mission-critical hardware manufacturing; multi-disciplinary engineering services; satellite design, production, launch planning, mission operations; and in-orbit support.
