The Afterhours — GitLab reports; Netflix co-CEO talks future plans

GitLab shares popped 16% in extended trading Monday after the company posted third-quarter results that beat Street expectations and raised its guidance.

The open-source cloud repository company reported adjusted earnings of $0.09 per share on revenue of $149.7 million, compared to expectations of $0.01 per share on revenue of $141.5 million. Revenue increased 32% year-over-year.

Meanwhile, Netflix Inc (NASDAQ:NFLX) plans to offer multiple ad-supported tiers in the future and crack down on password sharing, co-CEO Ted Sarandos said at a UBS conference Monday.

The streaming giant currently offers multiple tiers, ranging in price from $6.99 to $19.99, but there will likely be a wider variety of ad-supported tiers going forward, according to Sarandos.

Elsewhere, Five9, the business communication software company, is exploring options for a sale, according to reporting by Bloomberg News citing sources familiar with the matter.

The company is gauging interest from potential buyers, the report said, including Zoom Video Communications Inc (NASDAQ:ZM), which tried to acquire Five9 in October 2021 for $14.7 billion. Zoom abandoned the proposal after Five9 shareholders voted against it.
