In conversation with Proactive London's Thomas Warner, Technology Minerals PLC (LSE:TM1)'s Chief Operating Officer, Lester Kemp, discussed the latest developments at the Leinster Lithium project in Ireland. Kemp provided insights into the project's background, ongoing work, and its strategic significance within Technology Minerals' broader portfolio, which includes ventures in cobalt, nickel, and copper across various global locations.
Thomas Warner (TW): We're eager to learn about the Leinster Lithium project. Can you give us some background and your geological interest in it?
Lester Kemp (LK): Sure, Thomas. We're focusing on the Leinster Massif in southwest Ireland, known for spodumene-bearing pegmatites. We hold 16 licenses in the north and a pivotal one, PL 1597, in the south, where we've concentrated our efforts.
Global Battery Metals (TSX-V:GBML, OTCQB:REZZF), listed on TSX, is funding our work, including nine drill holes, under an earn-in agreement. Additionally, we have seven separate licenses around PL 1597, offering exciting prospects and complementing the findings from the main project area.
TW: What recent updates have you announced from this project?
LK: Well, PL 1597, also known as the Locking project, piqued our interest when a lithium-bearing pegmatite was discovered there in 1976. Our teams found spodumene in the area's dry stone walls, leading us to this license area. We've conducted basic soil sampling and recently completed nine drill holes.
TW: Could you elaborate on the agreement with Global Battery Metals (TSX-V:GBML, OTCQB:REZZF)?
LK: They're part of a three-stage option agreement to earn up to 90% in the project. They've already exercised the first two options, reflecting their confidence in the project's potential. They've been instrumental in funding the drilling program and the recent start of our trenching work.
TW: Finally, how does the Leinster project fit into Technology Minerals' wider exploration strategy?
LK: Leinster is a crucial component of our project incubator approach. We're developing it steadily, with Global Battery Metals as a key partner. It's an integral part of our lithium portfolio, but we also have other assets, like cobalt in Idaho, nickel, copper, and cobalt in Northern Spain, and new ventures in Cameroon.
