Alpha Financial’s resilience trumps near-term headwinds - analyst

Alpha Financial Markets Consulting PLC (AIM:AFM) is showing revenue resilience despite a weaker economic backdrop, increased competition and a reduction in utilisation, according to Sitfel analysts.

A research note published on Friday highlighted Alpha's robust performance during the first half of the 2024 fiscal year and a recovery in utilisation post-summer lows, which is expected to contribute to better performance in the second half.

In response to the first-half outcomes and the near-term margin pressure, Stifel prudently trimmed its forecast for Alpha's adjusted earnings per share for the 2024 fiscal year by approximately 4%.

However, only modest changes were made to the estimates for the 2025 fiscal year.

Despite the current challenges, Stifel noted that Alpha's valuation, at around 13.4 times one-year forward price-to-earnings, is historically low.

This valuation is seen as an attractive entry point, considering the company's multiple growth avenues, including asset under management growth, regulatory changes, fee pressure, and environmental, social, and governance factors.

Alpha's strengths are further bolstered by its market-leading service offerings, expansion into insurance, and capability enhancements.

The company's solid net cash position at the end of the 2024 fiscal year, estimated at approximately £40 million, is expected to support its growth through mergers and acquisitions.

According to Stifel, this strong balance sheet provides Alpha with significant room for strategic acquisitions, aiding its ambition to double fee income over five years.
